About Wolves in the Throne Room
Artist Biography
Conceived by brothers Nathan and Aaron Weaver during a protest for the radical environmental group Earth First!, Olympia, Washington-based Wolves in the Throne Room merge Cascadian eco-spiritual consciousness with the misanthropic tropes of Scandinavian metal, a sound the band describes as "transformative black metal." Rehearsing and recording at a converted farm dubbed Calliope, the group released the haunting Diadem of 12 Stars (2006), eventually signing with vanguard metal label Southern Lord. After extensive touring, the duo met and collaborated with producer/engineer Randall Dunn, yielding the acclaimed full-lengths Two Hunters (2007), Black Cascade (2009), Celestial Lineage (2011), and the self-released Thrice Woven (2017). The band's self-produced debut for Relapse, Primordial Arcana, was released in 2021, followed by the 2023 EP Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge.
