Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember going to the Artist's Collective as a young musician and listening to all of the great musicians in the school big band before I knew how to play a note.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Free for All (Remastered) Eddie Palmieri, Echando pa'lante Miles Davis, Miles In Europe (Live) Each of these albums have been extremely influential to me. The pianists on these albums are superb and the compositions or arrangements have been something for me to strive towards and obtain in my own music.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Let's Do It Again (feat. Luques Curtis, Willie Martinez, Camilo Molina & Reinaldo De Jesus)” This composition mixes my own bebop language with Afro-Cuban music. We also get to feature the percussion in the montuno section.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Working with the late great Ralph Peterson on his final album, "Raise Up Off Me."
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To produce a concert and recording of a project I've written for my band "Insight" which includes an orchestra.
