Zaza's Popular Music Videos
Artist Biography
Zanele "Zaza" Mokhethi is a queen among South African gospel musicians. The powerful Zulu praise singer is known both for roof-raisers like "Thel' Umoya" (Take Your Breath Away) as well as Township-flavored hip shakers like "Ngena" (Enter). In 1978, Zaza was born into the Kwa-Thema district of eastern Johannesburg. She emerged in 2007 with acclaimed praise ensemble Joyous Celebration, whose "Namhla Nkosi" (Today, My Lord), became an SA gospel standard and catapulted her to stardom. Zaza's elemental presence, which can include speaking in tongues, is captured best on live albums such as 2016's Blowing the Horn of Chronicle, her solo debut, and on 2019's The Outpouring Chronicle. After suffering at the hands of unscrupulous music executives, Zaza took matters into her own hands and launched Zahza Holdings, a combination record label, fashion and fragrance line, and foundation. Most importantly, according to the entrepreneur, it's a safe space for younger female singers.
