White People and the Damage Done
Album - Alternative, Music, Pop, Pop/Rock, Indie Rock, College Rock, Punk, Rock, Adult Alternative
Among the most distinctive voices in rock music, Jello Biafra is best known for his work with the politically minded subversive hardcore pioneers Dead Kennedys and for founding the long-running record label Alternative Tentacles. He released six albums with the DKs between 1980 and 1987 and followed that with nine spoken-word collections, plus five records with Lard (with Ministry's Al Jourgenson), and collaborations with everyone from The Melvins to D.O.A. and Mojo Nixon. The Guantanamo School of Medicine is his latest group, and this is its third release, following The Audacity of Hope and Enhanced Methods of Questioning. As is Biafra's usual M.O., he sounds off about shady politicians, religious absurdity, American hypocrisy, dirty Wall Street shenanigans, and assorted international debauchery, flexing his trademark warbly vocals over slashing guitars and frenetic drums. It's highly recommended for aging punk fans and government conspiracy theorists; check out "Crapture," "Shock-U-Py," and "Werewolves of Wall Street."
