A young actress who quickly made a name for herself on Broadway and in film, Shahadi Wright Joseph has proven that her talents also extend to the world of music.
∙ At age nine, Joseph was cast as young Nala in The Lion King on Broadway, and she was later part of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical School of Rock.
∙ Reprising her role as young Nala in the 2019 feature film adaptation of The Lion King, she appeared on the soundtrack and on Beyoncé’s accompanying LP, The Lion King: The Gift.
∙ Joseph’s debut solo single, “Skin I’m In,” arrived in 2019, and its follow-up, “Wallpaper,” dropped the following year.
∙ Her appearance in the 2019 horror film Us earned her several accolades, including a Next Generation Award from the Hollywood Critics Association.
