Singer/producer Akull thrives outside the film music world with Punjabi love songs marked by their upbeat melodies.
• Akull Tandon moved from his hometown of Delhi to Mumbai shortly after he completed a commerce degree, diving headlong into producing music for commercials and TV shows.
• Although still performing qawwali songs and Bollywood covers, he found his break in 2018 with “Laal Bindi”, a breezy love ode which effortlessly mixed Hindi, Punjabi and English lyrics.
• Tracks such as “Daaru Peekay Nachna”, “I Love You” and “Laal Chunariya” were all released via major label Universal Music India’s imprint VYRL Originals. His signing is proof of his potential to garner millions of streams outside of the film music space.
• His affable R&B-meets-hip-hop beat production shines on songs like “Faraar” and “Bahana”, signifying a continually evolving style for the artist.
