In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember my grandmother playing Mozart's "Alla Turca" during her visits to our house. I was always particularly impressed by the third part with the octaves in the right hand – which still represents a challenge for me today.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Marley & The Wailers, Legend – The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers Buena Vista Social Club, Buena Vista Social Club Simone Dinnerstein, Bach: Inventions & Sinfonias, BWV 772-801 The recording of BVSC for me is the ideal of sound representation, Dinnerstein plays these small pieces in the most exciting and expressive way and Bob always and everywhere spreads good cheer in an incredibly simple, yet deep and lasting way.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Invention No. 8 in B-Flat Minor” A piece based on Bach's famous Invention in A minor. My intention was to capture and reproduce this moment of joyful playing in a minor key piece. As an additional reminiscence, I incorporated the note sequence, in German note names, B-A-C-H.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording my first free improvisations together with old friends, completely freely for about 30 minutes. What happened was the magic of coming together and resonating, which to this day is my motivation for playing with as much presence as possible.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My daughter is a huge Billie Eilish fan, so of course it would be incredible for me if Billie used one of my tracks for a song: one of my classical piano pieces with Billie's ethereal, soaring vocals on top: wow!
