In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I saw Taylor Swift's music video for 'Our Song' when it came out, and when I went home and googled her, I learned she wrote her own songs. That's really what inspired me to keep writing mine.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Patty Griffin, 1000 Kisses Taylor Swift, folklore The National, I Am Easy to Find These albums truly have formed me as not only a songwriter, but as a human being. I think sometimes songwriting can feel really scary and almost too vulnerable sometimes, but these albums bring me back to why that honesty is so important.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Grieving” I almost didn't release this because it felt too specific for anyone to ever relate to it. It's ended up being my most received song, and it turned such a painful experience into a fond memory for me.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There's truly nothing like the feeling of getting a comment or message from someone saying your music helped them or comforted them. I feel really lucky my little songs can be there for people the way music is for me.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Has always been a Grammy, forever will be a Grammy. No matter how impossible it feels
