Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I (Sammy) was a kid, I’d watch MuchMusic obsessively – RapCity was my favourite. How many other Toronto grade 5s do you think were bumping Chubb Rock and De La Soul? Not sure there’s much De La in Lunchmeat but maybe next record...
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Charles Mingus, Mingus Ah Um Bonus Track Version Kraftwerk, Computer World (Remastered) Nirvana, In Utero 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Three formative records. In Utero: Skronky noisy punk meets Beatles melodies. Mingus Ah Um: the first jazz, I (Sammy) ‘got’ – “...Pork Pie Hat” is beautiful. Computer World: perfect melodies on top of that pulsing motorik groove.

This is our song that people seem to like best. It’s a chugging, thrashy ripper with a silly chorus – “cat drugs make me meow” – so who wouldn’t love that? Underneath, it’s about drug use and a rancid relationship.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Our first CD release show – remember CDs?! – sold out at Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto. The bar told us they hardly ever sold so much beer. The best LM shows are a real grimy frigging party.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Play on The Best Show with Tom Scharpling. Win the Grammy for Best Artist of All Time, a new category made just for us, and then they cancel the Grammys forever.
