Singer SUNMI got her start Wonder Girls, one of the most influential K-pop girl groups of the 2000s, before establishing herself as a solo star.
• Wonder Girls debuted in 2007 and went on to score a string of retro-themed viral hits in South Korea.
• In 2010, Sunmi announced that she would postpone her music career to pursue school while still signed to her Korean label, JYP Entertainment.
• The singer returned to the K-pop scene as a solo artist with 2013’s tango-inspired single "24 Hours,” which reintroduced her as a sultry K-pop diva.
• In 2015, SUNMI joined a reunited Wonder Girls, who were being rebooted as a proper band featuring all four women on instruments. SUNMI played bass for the group until they officially disbanded in February 2017 with the farewell single "DRAW ME."
• After departing JYP Entertainment, SUNMI signed with the smaller MakeUs Entertainment, which helped to establish her as a bonafide pop star. SUNMI earned writing and production credits on confidence anthems like “Gashina,” “Heroine,” and “Pporappippam.”
