The live DJ spin duo of laptopist Diego Mapa and drummer Jay Gapasin is also one of the most raucously original electronic outfits to come out of Manila. Over the course of each release dropped since their formation in 2011, critics have argued over what “post” moniker they can slot the all-instrumental tracks of Tarsius under. With release of 2020’s Torazin, the band remains an enigma, still on a mission to explore and incorporate as many shades of hip-hop, rock, soul and DJ Shadow-style collage into their core of pulsing electro squawks and gurgles that takes listeners to psychedelic, sci-fi art territory.
