In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up in a small town in regional Australia. I played recorder & sang in the school choir. Later I learned piano, then cello & went to Sydney Conservatorium. I studied the viola da gamba in The Netherlands & founded The Marais Project in 2000.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Hille Perl, Michael Behringer, J.S. Bach: 3 Viola da gamba Sonatas, BWV 1027-1029 Hopkinson Smith, Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman, Marin Marais: Pièces de viole des Cinq Livres Pablo Casals, Bach by Pablo Casals: The 6 Cello Suites Casals, the great Catalan cellist, was a peerless musician and a humanitarian. Bach changed the musical world and wrote for the viola da gamba. Marin Marais is the love of my musical life. Marais and Jordi Savall is a fantastic combo!

Tell us why you chose this song. “Tombeau for John Dowland” I recorded this track on our Marais Project 'Spinning Forth' album. I arranged it in memory of John Dowland, the English lute player. Dowland also wrote beautifully for the viol family.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring Australia and Sweden with Duo Langborn/Wendel in 2023. Performing at the Australian Embassy in Stockholm and recording our 'Nordic Moods & Baroque Echoes' album there.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I have an album for viola da gamba and harpsichord I really want to record. Perhaps in 2025?
