Životopis interpreta
Throttle Elevator Music was a West Coast collective who birthed an original brand of ferocious punk-funk-inspired jazz with the release of their eponymously titled debut album in 2012. A mix of expansionary workouts and tight, raucous punk, the record highlighted leader Kamasi Washington's unique playing style, coupled with Wide Hive label founder, producer, and composer Gregory Howe's relentless drive. 2014's Area J was the first to feature trumpeter/flugelhornist Erik Jekabson and was followed by Jagged Rocks a year later. Throttle Elevator Music IV won international acclaim in 2016. Retrorespective, though released in 2017, was mostly recorded -- save for Jekabson's parts -- in 2011 before recording their debut. The tracks comprising 2020's Emergency Exit were culled from nearly ten years of sessions. A year later, Final Floor, a second helping of studio extras, alternate, and demos, was released as their final will and testament.
