This was thanks to the Virginia-born Gen Z singer’s viral single “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” which effortlessly combined influences from G-funk, neo-soul, chopped-and-screwed H-Town rap, and state-of-the-art Trap&B into a dangerously infectious hit. However, Richman was no newcomer to the industry by this point. Trained as an opera singer, he surfaced in the mid-2010s with singles and EPs that bore a soulful slant, often veering off into unexpected territory.
