Canine are something of an enigma: ghostly, eclectic soul beneath an alluring, multifaceted voice. But there are clues to the mystery in the haunting moods of Bobby Bland and Agnes Obel, in the darkness of Aphex Twin's lone piano and the Twin Peaks theme. The clipped vocals evoke Björk at her most controlled, while the layered gospel chants echo the gothic influence of Dead Man's Bones.
