Hailing from the Toronto suburb of Oshawa, Dizzy emerged as one of the bright lights of Canadian indie pop with their Juno Award-winning 2018 debut, Baby Teeth. Centred around the luminous vocals of Katie Munshaw, songs like “Swim” and “Backstroke” are romantic teen reveries that float between dream-pop haze and Top 40 sparkle. The band continued to mould that lustrous sound on 2020’s The Sun and Her Scorch, as Munshaw chronicled her transition from idealistic youth to young adult on festival-ready anthems like “Sunflower” and “The Magician.” The latter reappeared on a 2021 single in more ambient form under the name “The Bird Behind the Drapes,” featuring viral harp star Luna Li.
