With hard-driving songs like “Cerni Andele”, Lucie made the soundtrack for a newly free Czech Republic after the Velvet Revolution. Taking that freedom to heart, these outlaw rockers refuse to be pigeonholed. “Amerika” experiments with added strings and a trip-hop beat; the synth pulse of “Srouby Do Hlavy” is punctuated with searing guitar solos, while “Ona vi” builds on a Spanish acoustic motif, and “Vsechno Ti Davam” dispenses with the drums for its low-slung groove. They also play to the crowd with lighters-in-the-air vocal harmonies, or the stadium-filling bombast of “Ohen”.
