Michael Franti's warm voice and sharp lyrics have inspired rockers, singer/songwriters, and rappers alike. He's in the lo-fi reggae of Bedouin Soundclash and the quietly burning soul-folk of Ben Harper. Fellow mixers of world music such as Dirty Heads and Matisyahu also walk a similar path, and there's a Spearhead vibe to the Bob Marley flute riff on which Jurassic 5's “Jayou” is built.
