Imelda May is the very incarnation of modern Irish music. Her records are rich with the country's folk tradition, which has seen her perform with the likes of The Dubliners, Cara Dillon and U2, but bringing in influences from rockabilly, classic '50s rock 'n' roll, jazz singing and even the burlesque tradition makes her work a uniquely stylish and adventurous brew. She's been in the game since 2002, but her most recent work—2014's Tribal—showed that she has no plan to let up any time soon: it's her fieriest collection of songs to date.
