The sonic evolution of Thai trio Tilly Birds has been thrilling. Their early career, marked by a trickle of English-language singles and a 2017 self-titled EP, was largely rooted in grungy alt-rock and nuanced explorations of heartbreak. By the time 2020 rolled around, the group switched gears and veered into indie-pop territory on their full-length debut Pu Diew. This was followed by second album It’s Gonna Be OK, which served up hits such as “Can’t Keep Up” and the mercilessly catchy “Just Being Friendly”—the latter featuring a guest spot by MILLI.
