Rising to prominence in the ’70s, William Goldstein was first discovered by Berry Gordy and signed to Motown Records as an artist, composer, and producer. Before long, he was also writing music for film and television, and scored shows such as Fame and The Twilight Zone, director Wes Craven’s film Shocker, and the Chuck Norris-starring Forced Vengeance and An Eye for an Eye. While a lot of his soundtrack work has hewed toward sci-fi, action, and horror, Goldstein also has a penchant for nostalgic warmth, having penned tributes to Marilyn Monroe and Leonard Bernstein. The New Jersey-born artist often incorporates elements of improvisation into his work, which dovetails well with his experiments in modern classical music.
