Originally launched as a solo project for singer/songwriter Laura Jane Grace in '97, Against Me! are one of punk's most passionate and fearless bands. While they started out playing acoustic folk with a raw punk edge, the Florida outfit soon started mixing socially conscious lyrics, hard-hitting riffs, and massive hooks into songs that bridged the gap between catchy indie rock and raging hardcore. Driven by Grace's introspective and intense songwriting, the group eventually emerged from the underground to score a string of alt-rock hits, bringing their furious protest songs to the mainstream.
