Even though frontman Zack de la Rocha left Rage Against the Machine in '00, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk roared on alongside fellow alt-rock legend Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) in Audioslave. The following year's self-titled debut may have retained elements of their respective iconic bands, but also uncovered a fresh alternative metal and hard rock fusion that continued evolving across two additional albums. The supergroup disbanded in '07, before both original acts reunited to widespread acclaim.
