Prolific reggae musician/producer Freddie McGregor recorded in nearly every major wave of Jamaican popular music, from ska to reggae and lovers rock. He began his career at the age of seven, recording rocksteady for Studio One as Little Freddie. In the ‘70s and ‘80s, McGregor hit his stride as an adult artist, working with producer Niney the Observer on a slew of popular hits while also producing for artists like Judy Mowatt. The rise of dancehall undermined the steady advance of his career, but McGregor found his niche in the sentimental sounds of lovers rock in the ‘90s and beyond.
