Tony! Toni! Toné!'s résumé is immaculate. Led by frontman Raphael Saadiq, the Oakland-based trio released three platinum albums and one gold between 1988 and 1996. They took part in two of the biggest R&B movements of the ‘90s, penning several new jack swing classics and pioneering the neo-soul sound that would explode later in the decade. With their catchy melodies and smooth grooves, it's no surprise that the group would contribute songs to the motion picture soundtracks for Boyz n the Hood and Jason's Lyric.
