Like many in the Italian music tradition, Syria sparked her career at the historic Sanremo Music Festival. She soon carved out a space of her own, however, with a belting yet elegant voice that has stood the test of time. Born Cecilia Cipressi in Rome, she is the daughter of record producer Elio Cipressi. One of the earliest examples of her talent is the sleek ballad “Sei tu”. But the changing seasons of sounds in the years since have not altered Syria’s feel-good, heart-warming power, be it in the rap-like flow of “Non Sono” or the effervescent disco glow of “Acqua E Alloro”.
