Running in Place

When these events occur I look outside

And all the fireworks leave an image in my eyes

But I’m cast back into the darkness of the night

And I can't see a thing but these wavy neon lights

When my time frame ends

I don’t know where I’ll land

My chance, my test

Has come and gone and passed into

The wind again

I’ll flicker, fade out like a candle wick

I thought but somehow I remain running in place

Standing in the cold and dark, then I scream out loud

My friends come back and say they see everything around

For me it feels like malice and doom

But for them everything seems ok
