Walked into the room, sun kissed his face
My worried mind, takes a little break
He gives me a smile, says take a seat
I settle in, put up my feet
I say “how’s it going?”, the question he was hoping for
words like a river, from years before
Tales of the past, he seems to glow
After all these years, so much I didn’t know
He tells me about victories and when he lost
about all the girls he tried to love, how they broke his heart
How he found his one and only swore he’d never let her go
laying by her side when she left him all alone
He said “I was supposed to be, the first to go”
Sunset paints the sky, old man gives me a grin
one story down, another one begins
Deep lines around his eyes, yet a twinkle remains
Ignited from his past again and again
He tells me about adventures, all across the land
with friends he’d have forever, at least that was the plan
How he found his one and only swore he’d never let her go
laying by her side when she left him all alone
We don’t get to choose, the start or ending day
We just get the in between and choices on the way F
What will our story be, pen in our hand
Take time to live, to love and understand
Full Moon blows a chill into my bones
Old man and me, all the others have gone home
River slows, he stares into space
Old man in the moon shines a light on the old man’s face
He tells me there’s not much to do
before he leaves this place
Mind right but body worn
and just can’t keep the pace
How he found his one and only
swore he’d never let her go
Soon to be together
never more alone
He said “I was supposed to be, the first to go”
