Chilean producer José Antonio Bravo loves confounding expectations. While fans might be anticipating those signature chunky hip-hop breaks riddled with glitchy synth melodies, the man known as Latin Bitman is just as likely to conjure up a computer-enhanced vision of classic Brazilian jazz, weaving acoustic flutes and guitars into his disorienting mixes. Homies might initially seem like the club-friendliest collection he's released as a solo artist, though it's not surprising that styles like ecstatic house music ("You") and throbbing roots reggae ("Express Yourself") still feel delightfully twisted once they're run through Bitman's fusion-minded sensibility.
