Psycho Circus

While Psycho Circus features Kiss’ original foursome on the cover, multiple lineups actually forged its amalgam of vintage hooks and ’90s bite. “Into the Void” features Ace Frehley’s cool drawl and strangled axe solos, both reaching back to the ’70s, while Gene Simmons’ “Within” is a grungy chugger injected with guitarist Bruce Kulick’s trippy licks. The glam-kissed title song feels both old and new, its hard-rocking wallop powered by the pulverizing skins of Kiss session ace Kevin Valentine.
