Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration (Deluxe Edition) [2014 Remaster]
Album - Singer/Songwriter, Music, Rock, Southern Rock, Pop, Pop/Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Contemporary Folk, Arena Rock, Rock & Roll
On Oct. 16, 1992, New York's Madison Garden was packed with Bob Dylan fans, many of them all-star musicians who’d come to celebrate Dylan on the 30th anniversary of his first album. The four-hour show—performed in front of a sold-out audience of more than 18,000 fans and live-cast all over the world—has since become an iconic moment of its own. Yet Dylan has continued to reinvent his career several times over. Here, George Harrison makes his first U.S. concert appearance in 18 years with a rockabilly-influenced version of “Absolutely Sweet Marie.” Lou Reed delivers a terse “Foot of Pride.” Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready present a timely “Masters of War.” Two essential bonus tracks are added to this set: afternoon rehearsals of Eric Clapton performing “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” and Sinead O’Connor delivering “I Believe in You.” (She was booed at the concert for having ripped up a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live two weeks earlier.) Dylan appears for “It’s Alright Ma, I’m Only Bleeding,” “My Back Pages,” “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door," and “Girl from the North Country.”
