Künstler-Biographie
Yeastie Girlz (their name an obvious spin on the the Beastie Boys) are a feminist punk/rap band comprised of members Jane, Cammie, Kate, and Joyce, who hail from the fertile punk scene of Gilman St. in Berkeley, California. The trio released the 1988 7" single Ovary Action (issued on the independent Lookout! label), which contained a total of ten songs (only one of which stretches past the two-minute mark); track titles include "Sperm Brain," "Talkin' Shit," "Orgasm Addict," and "F**k Yerself." Into the '90s, they collaborated with the industrial dance band Consolidated on their 1992 track "You Suck," which became a dance club hit, and they also released their anthem "Yeast Power" on 1997's MAXIMUMROCKNROLL compilation Turn It Around. The Yeastie Girlz have been sampled by TV Girl (on the song "Not Allowed") and continue to inspire new generations of feminists. ~ TiVo Staff
