Andy Paley began his career as a power-pop cult hero, and went on to become one of the most respected producers and songwriters in rock and pop, helping Brian Wilson launch his solo career with 1988's Brian Wilson, and working with the likes of Madonna, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Darlene Love. Paley was also a recording artist in his own right, releasing LPs with the Sidewinders (1972's The Sidewinders) and the Paley Brothers (1978's Paley Brothers), but it was as a behind-the-scenes figure that he made his greatest impact, and he also had a successful sideline in television, scoring episodes of The L Word and SpongeBob SquarePants.
