Irish guitarist Gary Moore was mentored by Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, who helped his first professional band, blues-rock outfit Skid Row, land a record deal.
∙ He spent three brief stints as a member of Thin Lizzy, contributing iconic solos to the ballad “Still in Love With You” and their 1979 Gold album, Black Rose: A Rock Legend.
∙ “Parisienne Walkways,” his now-signature song, was modeled after “Blue Bossa,” a jazz standard he performed with his former fusion group, Colosseum II.
∙ Skid Row and Thin Lizzy bandmate Phil Lynott duetted with him on “Out in the Fields,” which peaked near the top of the charts in four different countries.
