Italian/Norwegian metallers Hideous Divinity deliver death metal that is both crushing and old-school, rooted in both technical and blackened death. Initiated in 2006 by Hour of Penance co-founder Enrico Schettino, the band issued their debut album, the socio-political/sci-fi epic Obeisance Rising, on Unique Leader in 2012. Subsequent efforts like Adveniens (2017), Simulacrum (2019), and the EP LV-426 (2021) continued to look to classic science fiction and horror films for inspiration, and push against the boundaries of extreme metal. In 2024, they released Unextinct. Their first album not to be based on a film, it was instead inspired by Bram Stoker's novel Dracula.
