Indian playback singer Sukhwinder Singh is an internationally renowned star who has recorded songs for more than 400 films in such languages as Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
∙ “Chaiyya Chaiyya” became his breakout hit after it appeared in the 1998 Bollywood film Dil Se and on the accompanying soundtrack, which sold more than six million copies in India.
∙ In 1999, Singh won Best Male Playback Singer honors at both the both Filmfare and Star Screen awards shows.
∙ He was the principal vocalist on the Oscar-winning international hit “Jai Ho,” from the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire.
∙ “Marjaani”—his 2010 collaborative single with award-winning musician Pritam and singer Sunidhi Chauhan—was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.
