Since her 2016 breakout release, Honest Life, Arizona-born singer/songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews has been honoured by the country music community and nominated for an Americana Grammy, but her singular sensibility transcends genre borders, incorporating folk, pop and alternative flavours. (Early on, she even toured and recorded as a guest musician with emo heroes Jimmy Eat World.) Andrews’ sweetly swooping voice can soar or whisper, wail or croon, as she delivers organic-sounding, often acoustic-based ballads that draw on her own personal ups and downs but speak to the lives of just about anybody willing to lend an ear.
