The clamorous “Stranger Than Fiction” channels childhood nightmares in detail, right down to its ominously trilling birds; “Amy (Darling)” is both foppish and twangy, its lyrics off-puttingly lovelorn. “Make Sense of It,” meanwhile, speeds up the tempo to add to its paranoiac feel.
