Charlotte Day Wilson swiftly became one of Canada’s most compelling voices in R&B with 2016’s slow-burning love letter “Work.” Born in Toronto in the early ‘90s, early exposure to Motown as a kid informs her richly textured neo-soul. She first explored the sound in college as a member of Halifax funk group The WAYO and dug deeper in the mid-2000s with her breakout EP, CDW. The critical and commercial success of “Work” turned Wilson into an in-demand collaborator—she’s also a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist—and she’s since become a vital thread in Toronto’s jazz and R&B tapestry, working with the likes of Mustafa, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Daniel Caesar.
