His 2014 breakout “Freaks” paired peppy brass lines with New Zealand rapper Savage’s outsized delivery, while the Sydney producer/DJ slyly sampled Mary Jane Lamond’s Gaelic singing on 2016’s mesmerizing “Oracle.” Smith may favor replayable earworms that rarely exceed the four-minute mark, but his symphony background is never far behind: 2022’s “Vivaldi” pays sweeping tribute to the late Italian composer of the same name, thanks in part to Mexican producer Mariana BO’s frenetic violin.
