For her third record, Tift Merritt journeyed to Paris to find a new perspective. The result was Another Country, a charged, stirring collection of roots rock that chimes to life with the bright acoustic strum of “Something to Me.” The title track is a soft, sweet, piano-buoyed love song that looks wistfully toward the future. She makes a powerful statement with “I Know What I’m Looking for Now” and its organ flourishes, and ends in French with the warmhearted ballad “Mille Tendresses.”
