Jerry Garcia and David Grisman first met each other before the Grateful Dead even existed, so their partnership toward the end of Garcia's life truly brought things full circle. On this duo album, they tackle traditional tunes, standards, and original material in a stripped-down acoustic format. Garcia's guitar and Grisman's mandolin sound like old friends, too, tumbling through an instrumental conversation on "Grateful Dawg" and ambling side by side on the easygoing, jazzy “Rockin’ Chair’.”
