Into her amiable, assured pop punk, Roy mixes dabs of Bruce Springsteen’s brooding fire, Cyndi Lauper’s synth-pop unusual-ity, and Melissa Etheridge’s growl. In 2008, the singer-songwriter scored a major hit and a signature song with "Unbeautiful," the title song off her sparkling debut LP.
