Paul Wong is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Hong Kong who rose to fame during the 1980s and 1990s as a member of the rock band Beyond before embarking on a solo career after the turn of the century. Born in Hong Kong on March 31, 1964, he joined Beyond in 1985. Thanks to hits such as "Dai Dei," Beyond rose to fame during the late '80s and early '90s, and though tragedy struck in 1993 with the death of lead singer Wong Ka Kui, they remained active for years afterward, not officially disbanding until 2005. Meanwhile, Wong made his solo debut in 2001 with the album Yellow Paul Wong and continued to release new recordings regularly in association with Universal Music. ~ Jason Birchmeier
