Novo Amor—aka Welsh singer-songwriter/producer Ali John Meredith-Lacey—has been creating lush folk-pop since 2012.
∙ Meredith-Lacey’s stage name, adopted after a painful breakup, is the Galician-Portuguese term for “new love.”
∙ His 2015 haunting cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” appeared in a major ad campaign, and the song’s video was directed by Nabil, who’s helmed clips for Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar.
∙ Novo Amor and producer/songwriter Ed Tullett released their indie-folk album, Heiress in 2017, and the following year he debuted his first solo LP, Birthplace.
