About Garnet Silk
Βιογραφία καλλιτέχνη
Garnett Silk began his career in music at the age of 12 as a DJ under the name Little Bimbo, going on to become one of Jamaica's most acclaimed singer-songwriters. He moved to Kingston in 1988 and recorded a song for Sugar Minott’s Youth Promotion label, "No Disrespect," before signing a two-year contract with Steely and Clevie, releasing "We Could Be Together," a duet with Chevelle Franklin. He subsequently teamed up with Courtney Cole, recording several hits at Cole’s Roof International studio, notably "I Can See Clearly Now," a duet with dub poet Yasus Afari, and "Seven Spanish Angels." His 1992 debut set, IT'S GROWING, was declared a masterpiece of roots music. Silk died when a gas tank exploded in his home in 1994.
