Teejayx6 is a bubbling Detroit MC who’s brought “scam rap” to the mainstream—and taught listeners how to engage in similar illicit activities.
• He grew up scamming, and he even claims to have sold parsley as weed in first grade.
• Teejay decided to start rapping in his teens but didn’t get any early traction because of his boilerplate raps.
• In 2018, he decided to rap about what he knows about: scamming. That led to him going viral with 2019’s “Dynamic Duo,” a collaboration with friend Kasher Quon.
• The rapper took advantage of his viral fame by releasing nine projects in 2019, including Under Pressure, Fraudulent Activity, and Black Air Force Activity.
• His breakthrough 2019 single “Dark Web” is one of many songs in which he provides a scamming tutorial, explaining to listeners how to bypass online security measures.
• In 2020, Teejayx6’s released three projects and continued to make scam rap an important part of rap culture.
