Two Wounded Birds formed in 2008 in Margate, England. Made up of Johnny Danger (lead guitar, vocals), Ally Blackgrove (bass), Joe Stevens (rhythm guitar), and James Shand (drums), the quartet cultivated its surf-informed, punk-edged sound before attracting the attention of like-minded indie surfers the Drums. The two acts toured together and Drums member Jacob Graham released Two Wounded Birds' 2010 EP Keep Dreaming Baby on his Holiday imprint. The band recorded a BBC session, released two singles, toured extensively, and developed a devoted fan base, which included an alleged phone call from new fan Brian Wilson. The band's self-titled full-length, melding the raw punk of the Ramones and the subtle songcraft of the Zombies, saw release in 2012. ~ Fred Thomas
