Latin singer Yolanda Duke was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the U.S. after her family moved to New York in 1969. Before winning her first festival in 1979, tropical music became her favorite style. She won New York's Newcomer Artist Award in 1990, and Most Popular Female Vocalist a year later. Her debut album, Soy Una Fiera, was followed by a tribute to Cuban legend La Lupe titled Nostalgias de La Lupe. ~ Drago Bonacich
