Houston rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Byron Lynn Nettles, Jr., who operates under the moniker Yung Pooda, emerged in 2017 with a string of singles and freestyles that showcased his distinct flow and versatile trap-based sound. He made his worldwide debut in 2020 with the Cool & Dre-produced "Repeat Dat."
Raised in the small Texas town of Orange, Pooda eventually found his way to Houston where he quickly attracted attention with his singles and features like "Get Some Money (with Hogg Booma)" and "Beat Up the Block (with Paul Wall)." Citing a diverse array of influences that includes Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, Beethoven, Sade, Gucci Mane, and Big L, Pooda inked a deal with It's A 10 Records in 2020 and teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Cool & Dre for his official debut, "Repeat Dat," which was set appear on his inaugural EP, Vivid Pictures, later that year. ~ James Christopher Monger
